Gitananda Yoga

Gitananda Yoga, also known as Rishiculture Ashtanga Yoga, focuses on the three great mystic sciences of the east: mantra, tantra, and yantra. Mantra is the science of sound vibration; tantra is the science of symbolic speech; and yantra is the science of number, as well as name and form. Gitananda Yoga was spread by Dr. Swami Gitananda, who is often called as the Father of Modern Scientific Yoga. One of the core concepts of Gitananda Yoga is the disclosure, as well as understanding of Mudra. An ancient art and science of Yoga, Mudra deals with Pranic energies.

Mudra techniques, including Oli Mudra teaching and Hasthra Mudras training, enhance physical coordination, develop clarity of the mind, as well as improve behavioral conditions. These effects, in turn, help in heightening our intra-, inter-, and trans-communication. Gitananda Yoga also focuses on the understanding of the Yamas, or restraints, and Niyamas, or observances. Basically, yamas and niyamas are rules of conduct one must do in order to live righteously in this world. Yamas and Niyamas refer to the shall-not and shall-do, respectively.

Entailing dedication and introspection, Gitananda Yoga is a methodical and gradual approach. Starting off in a sitting position, warming-up exercises are done, then breathing techniques and Yoga Postures, and ends with a relaxation and concentration exercise.  More than 120 breathing techniques are employed in Gitananda Yoga. Beginning with the Vibhagha Pranayama, Gitananda Yoga proceeds with the succeeding breathing techniques. With regards to the practices, Hatha Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Laya Yoga exercises are included.
